Mosaic builds out financial, professional lines with London appointments

May 10, 2021

Hamilton, Bermuda—Mosaic Insurance is building its professional liability and financial institutions units with two key appointments today, adding Anna Jay and Christopher Webb to its London underwriting team.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Anna and Chris to Mosaic as we continue building our teams with the very best underwriting talent in the business,” said Mosaic Co-CEO Mitch Blaser. “Their deep experience and market knowledge will be invaluable as we prepare to launch these respective specialty lines in the next few weeks.”

Jay joins the new global specialty insurer as SVP, Head of Professional Liability, after 18 years spent working across the specialty sector with a core focus on the product line. Her appointment continues to build out Mosaic’s expertise in the class, following last week’s announcement of Danny Clack as Deputy Active Underwriter.

Jay’s career in the London market began as a specialist-placing broker, before she moved to underwriting, spending a decade at QBE International. She later joined Pembroke Syndicate 4000 at Lloyd’s in 2016 and served as divisional director of professional lines for the syndicate.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the team at Mosaic and excited by the opportunity to bring my expertise and develop the specialty offering. We are committed to providing innovative solutions to clients in a challenging market place,” said Jay.

Webb joins Mosaic as SVP, Underwriter, Financial Institutions, reporting to Chris Brown. He has nearly 40 years’ experience in the Lloyd’s market, first as a financial institutions placing broker, and later as an underwriter in the sector. He has spent the last 13 years as a senior underwriter for Syndicate 4000.

“I am excited and proud to be part of Mosaic’s team of specialist underwriters,” said Webb. “I look forward to working with a talented group of colleagues to provide tailored solutions for financial institutions around the world.”

Since its start February 4, Mosaic has assembled a team of leading underwriters to build out its chosen specialty product lines that demonstrate both current global relevance and growth trends. Professional liability and financial lines join Mosaic’s existing portfolio of war & terror and political violence, political risk, and cybersecurity.
